Donation Refund & Cancellation Policy
Thank you for your generous support of Krishna Charitable Trust (https://krishnacharity.com/). Your contributions directly fuel our social initiatives, humanitarian aid, and community welfare projects.
Because donations made to a non-profit organization are voluntary gifts to further our charitable mission, they are generally considered non-refundable. However, we understand that errors can occasionally occur. This policy outlines the specific conditions under which Krishna Charitable Trust will handle donation cancellations or refund requests.
1. General Policy on Donations
- All voluntary donations made through our official website (https://krishnacharity.com/) or offline payment channels are final, non-refundable, and non-transferable.
- Once a donation is received, the funds are immediately allocated to our ongoing humanitarian missions, relief camps, or community service projects. Therefore, we cannot reverse a donation once it has been processed and put to use.
2. Exceptions Where Refunds May Be Issued
Krishna Charitable Trust will review and, at its sole discretion, issue a refund under the following highly limited circumstances:
- Technical Errors & Duplicate Billing: If a technical glitch in our payment gateway causes your credit card, debit card, or net banking account to be charged multiple times for a single donation, we will refund the duplicate transaction(s).
- Unauthorized or Fraudulent Activity: If your payment instrument was utilized fraudulently by an unauthorized third party to make a donation without your consent, we will process a refund upon receipt of proof and verification from your banking institution.
- Incorrect Input Error: If an extra zero or incorrect numerical digit was accidentally entered during the donation process (e.g., intending to donate ₹1,000 but accidentally processing ₹10,000), you must notify us immediately as per the timelines in Section 4.
3. Recurring Donation Cancellations
If you have signed up for a monthly, quarterly, or annual recurring donation plan to sustain our long-term charitable projects:
- How to Cancel: You can cancel your recurring giving cycle at any time by logging into your donor profile or sending an email to our support team.
- Timeline: To prevent the next automated billing cycle, cancellation requests must be submitted at least 5 business days before your scheduled donation date.
- Past Donations: Cancelling a recurring plan halts all future transactions; it does not retroactively refund previous monthly donations already committed to our charitable programs.
4. Refund Request Process & Strict Timelines
To request a refund for an error or duplicate transaction, you must contact our administrative office within 7 calendar days from the exact date the donation was made. We cannot process any refund requests received after this 7-day window.
To submit a formal request, please send an email with the following details:
- Official Email: [email protected] (or your designated support email)
- Required Documentation:
- Your full legal name and contact details.
- Transaction Date and exact Time.
- Total Amount Donated.
- The unique Transaction ID or Reference Number generated by the payment gateway.
- A screenshot or scanned copy of your bank statement showing the specific deduction.
5. Tax Exemption & Receipt Compliance (e.g., 80G / 501(c)(3))
- Voiding of Receipts: If a donation refund is approved and issued, any tax exemption certificate or official donation receipt (such as an 80G certificate in India or equivalent international tax receipts) issued for that specific transaction will be legally cancelled and rendered null and void.
- Legal Reporting: Using a cancelled donation receipt to claim tax deductions or write-offs constitutes a legal violation, and the Trust will report the refunded transaction to the appropriate tax authorities as required by law.
6. Processing Timeframes
Once a refund request is received along with all valid supporting documents, our internal audit and finance team will review it within 5 to 7 business days.
If approved, the refund will be initiated. The funds will be credited back exclusively to the original payment method (the same credit card, bank account, or wallet) used to make the initial donation. Depending on standard banking cycles, it may take 7 to 14 business days for the credited amount to reflect in your account.
